Only 3 projects registered with RERA

The much-hyped Real Estate Regulation Act (RERA) has failed to bring any respite to home buyers in Rajasthan. Since its launch more than 60 days ago, the application for registration of only seven real estate projects have reached the nearly defunct authority. Only two projects have been registered, one in Jaipur and another in Sriganganagar.

The state government formed the authority when it came into force on May 1 and appointed Pradeep Kapoor its registrar, but no staff has been deployed to register projects and complete other formalities. Only a couple of people have been appointed so far when a team of several people is required.

No grievance redressal system has been put in place, so home buyers are still have to approach a court or local civic body in case they want to register a complaint against a builder.

Developers are facing technical problems when they try to use RERA website to register their project and upload documents including project maps.

Builders were given 90 days to register their projects with the authority. They were asked to apply online on RERA website and upload documents, but the government delayed the launch. The builders now say that the deadline should be extended.

To make it easier for developers to have their registration application processed quickly, the government will provide the facility of provide certification online with e-signature.

Nearly 24 people have applied for registration as real estate agents with RERA.
